Africa is endowed with incredible natural and human resources, as well as great cultural, ecological, and economic diversity. Although the continent has enjoyed numerous economic advances in recent years, many Africans still expect greater economic opportunities than they are currently obtaining. Despite a rapidly rising population - which will represent a quarter of the global population by 2050 - the African continent grew at an average annual rate of 4.7% between 2000 and 2017. This level of growth has so far been insufficient to trigger fundamental structural changes, while failing to create enough decent jobs, with 282 million people currently working in unstable employment.

Depuis 2016, HEC Center for Geopolitics et Policy Center for the New South organisent chaque année deux éditions des « Dialogues Stratégiques ». Cette plateforme d’analyse et d’échange réunit des experts, des chercheurs provenant de différents think-tanks et du monde académique, des praticiens, ainsi que des décideurs politiques pour débattre des grandes questions géopolitiques et sécuritaires à l’échelle internationale, ainsi que des problématiques d’importance commune à la fois pour l’Europe et l’Afrique.

RoundTable

Our Senior Fellow Uri Dadush will take part during roundtable discussions around the theme: “The future of the WTO” hosted by the Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI), and the German Development Institute (DIE). In this event, Uri Dadush and Professor Nagakawa will speak on the future of the WTO, with officials from India, the WTO and the European Commission will be discussants.

Futures of EU-Africa Relations: Lessons from Scenario-Building
