Malancha is particularly interested in understanding the impact of emerging countries such as India, China and Brazil on Africa's development process. She also works on food security and nutrition related issues and holds a PhD in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University. Her PhD thesis explored the nature and impact of Chinese trade, investment, and development cooperation in three sub-Saharan African countries namely Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Ethiopia.

Had 3 Federal Deputy mandates and served at the Board of PSDB - Brazilian Political Party. He was also - from 1979 to 1980 - Deputy Minister of Finance.
