Antoine Damarlie

Director of Research, GrenCHAP, Grenada

Damarlie Antoine currently serves as the director of research at GrenCHAP, a human rights advocacy group in Grenada. She is also the founder and coordinator of eARTh, which is a recently formed arts-based group seeking to empower and enlighten Grenadian youth through artistic expressions.

Her previous professional experience includes tutoring research courses at the University of the West Indies, Barbados, and working as a project officer at the Ministry of Youth in Grenada. Antoine is also a self-identified feminist, poet, and spoken word performer and artisan. She is currently working on the publication of her book, SKIN.

Paula de Castro

Project Manager, Barcelona Centre for International Affairs (CIDOB), Belgium

Paula de Castro is project manager of the Atlantic Future’s Project, which is funded by the EU’s 7th Framework Programme.

Prior to this, she served as assistant project manager of “The Northern Africa Security Continuum: The Dynamics of Instability and the Search for Effective Responses” initiative, co-directed by CIDOB and the Stimson Center of Washington, DC. She has also served as an assistant analyst on political and security issues at Spain’s Ministry of Defense and collaborated with the European Council on Foreign Relations in Madrid in the “European Foreign Policy Scorecard 2014.” Her professional areas of focus include foreign policy analysis, international security, and transatlantic relations.

Sophie Dembinski

Previously, she worked at The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) in Brussels, where she covered EU-Asia relations. She continues to serve as U.K. coordinator for GMF’s Marshall Memorial Fellowship (MMF). Dembinski has authored a number of blogs and op-eds and is co-founder of ValuableWorld. Prior to joining GMF, she worked for the Eurasia Group and Proméxico, and was a Rotary humanitarian ambassador of goodwill. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the London School of Economics, and a master’s degree from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven.

In her current role with the government, Diop is tasked with leveraging Senegal’s advantageous geographical location to attract top investors and tourists from around the Atlantic Basin. 

Nerys Dockery

Senior Foreign Service Officer, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, St. Kitts and Nevis

Nerys Dockery is presently a senior foreign service officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.

Prior to this, she was a special assistant in the Office of the Director General of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) acting as special advisor on the strategic foreign policy directions that should be taken by the Member States of the Organisation in order to effectively leverage their collective voice and vote on the international stage. Her professional experience also includes working as a program officer in the International Relations Unit of the OECS as well as Desk Officer for Caribbean Community (CARICOM), OECS and ACS Matters in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of St. Kitts and Nevis. Dockery has a master’s in advanced international studies from the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.

James Elias

Deputy Chief of Staff, Foreign Trade Secretariat, Brazil

James Elias is currently a foreign trade analyst with the Brazilian government, advisor to the secretary of foreign trade, and deputy chief of staff of the Foreign Trade Secretariat.

Most of his previous professional experience was in AIESEC (2007-11), the world’s largest student-run organization, where he was president of the Local Committee of Belo Horizonte, Brazil in 2011. He holds a major in business administration from the University Center UNA (2011) and a law degree from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (2012). He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in public administration at the University of Brasília.

Eve Fofana

Head of Partnerships, National Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, Morocco

Eve Fofana is deputy country manager for General Electric in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Her primary role is to identify and translate commercial opportunities into bankable projects for all the different businesses of GE in Francophone sub-Saharan Africa.

She co-led the new implantation of GE in Côte d’Ivoire and continues to be involved in the daily operations. Prior to this, she spent seven years with GE Capital France where she held several positions. Her professional experience includes finance work with American Express in France and operations handling with Air France – KLM in the United States. She completed her graduate degree in marketing and business administration at Baruch College in 2006.

Jeffrey Gelman

Senior Advisor, U.S. Department of State, USA

Jeffrey Gelman is currently a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of State working on policy issues for the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

Previously, he worked at the White House National Security Council from 2010 to 2014 as a special assistant in the Nonproliferation Directorate. Prior to joining government, he worked as a research assistant in the Foreign Policy Studies program at the Brookings Institution from 2005 to 2009. During the 2008 presidential elections, he worked on arms control and non-proliferation issues for the Obama campaign. Gelman holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a master’s degree in security policy studies from George Washington University.

Raphael Camargo is a master’s candidate in management of governance networks at Erasmus University, Netherlands. Prior to that, he worked as an international advisor at the Office of Foreign Affairs of São Paulo State Government, Brazil, responsible for articulating international cooperation projects between the state and foreign governments and international organizations.

Camargo also worked as an international advisor at São Paulo State Secretariat of Metropolitan Development. He attended several international missions as part of the state official delegation. He graduated in international relations from the Armando Alvares Penteado Foundation – FAAP, Brazil, he holds an executive education from ESADE Business School and completed executive courses from London School of Economics.

She is also a founding partner of New Frame Limited, a mobile app development startup that seeks to help businesses in Cameroon improve their brands. Hob-Hob holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Williams College.
