Aleksandra joined the IEMed as a fellowship holder. Prior to that she worked at the Permanent Representation of Poland to Council of Europe and at the Polish Ministry of Regional Development. She has been lecturing at Autonomous University of Barcelona, IBEI (Barcelona Institute of International Studies) and Blanquerna – Ramon Llull University.
With a strong global network of contacts within the financial, infrastructure, agriculture, energy, transportation and technologies industries and invaluable experience with business start-ups and management, he serves as the Managing Partner and Co-founder of PS Nutraceuticals International Ltd, a pioneering agricultural technology company specializing in three core technologies: aeroponics, hydroponics and aquaponics.
Now a civil engineer-in-training and having graduated with an MS in Civil Engineering from Stanford, She is passionate about using my engineering knowledge to solve water infrastructure and management issues. She is currently working in Ethiopia as a water engineering consultant focusing on water supply for rural communities and health care institutions.
In addition, he is the co-founder of Afrilanthropy, a philanthropic investment advisory firm, and a Nonresident Fellow with the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP).
He regularly writes and lectures on topics including the Middle Eastern transitions, economic development and entrepreneurship, and technology. He is a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Agenda Councils. In the past, he has consulted for such organisations as the United Nations, the World Bank, as well as national governments in the Middle East.
Scarlett Varga also contributes to the management of the visiting fellowship program. Prior to working at Bruegel, she worked in the solar energy industry on research and industry-led projects. She worked and travelled extensively in Latin America, setting up energy cooperatives in the Atacama region and Patagonia. She is trained in Economics and Business (BSc) and the European Union Financing Schemes (MA). Scarlett is member of the Steering Committee of the Brussels Binder, the initiative aimed at increasing female voices in European policy debates.
A public health physician by training, she is the autor of the book How to Prevent Zika with Mayan Medicine (2016), which examines the relationship between homeopathic medicine versus alopata. She is extremely passionate about healthcare in Mexico and works with various foundations, charities and governments to improve standards of healthcare.
For his service and impact, Kevin has been named Canada’s Top 30 Under 30, Her Majesty The Queen’s Young Leader for Canada, and a Fellow of The Aspen Institute, The Royal Society of Arts, and The Royal Commonwealth Society.
Her main axes of research are migration and integration in European countries, especially in France and Germany, commemorative culture and transitional justice. Nele is member of the Young Transatlantic Network of future leaders of the German Marshall Fund and of the Alumni Association of the French-German Future Dialog.
As a youth ambassador, he consults with several international youth bodies globally to aid different countries to progress their development agenda. Jerome also runs his social enterprise on the grass root level to keep a connection with what the youth on the ground are facing. He has been recognized by The Mandela Family, former President Barack Obama and Her Majesty the Queen of England for his work.
She is also the head of the Foundation’s Future of African Cities project, a cross-continental study on how African cities are preparing for the upcoming demographic transition. Nchimunya previously worked as Assistant Lecturer at the Nelson Mandela School of Governance at the University of Cape Town. Whilst there, she played a significant role in developing the MPhil in Development Policy & Practice, a pan‐African Masters programme aimed at providing strategic academic development for mid‐career public sector officials from across Africa.
