Trained in political theory at Yale, Cambridge, and the Sorbonne, he served as legislative counsel in the 111th U.S. Congress, organized on four US presidential campaigns, and has additionally worked as a volunteer attorney for Lawyers for Children America. As a facilitator and trainer, he worked to advance democratic innovation at the European Commission, as well as with NGOs and governments in India, Tunisia, Egypt, Uganda, Senegal, Czech Republic and Ukraine.
She is a German Marshall Fund Fellow (GMF) and Distinguished Visiting Scholar, and a Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South (Morocco). Dr. Ishmael is also The Fletcher School Tufts University GMAP Endowment Fellow and is a member of The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy GMAP Advisory Council. She was an expert witness for the House of Lord’s inquiry into Commonwealth efforts post Brexit to lift countries out of poverty through trade. She is also the Special Advisor (Europe) to the Vice Chancellor of the University of the West Indies.
She is a Legal Adviser to Lota Protein S.A. since 2014 and was the first woman to be appointed to CODELCO (National Copper Corporation of Chile) 9 members Board of Directors (2014-2018).
He is a member of the Research Group within the Euro-Mediterranean Universities Networks. He has also acted as Adviser to the Prime Minister and to the Minister of Economy and Finance. He acts as independent expert to the Moroccan Competition Council and the Moroccan Authority for the fight against Corruption. He is a member of the Adderrahim Bouabid Foundation Board (Body of Research- Action on matters relating to State Reform). Mr. Jaïdi also acts as consultant to Moroccan and foreign entities.
Former elected Interim President of the Southern University System, the nation’s only Historically Black College System. Having studied at the Universities of Oslo and Vienna, she specializes in comparative and international education. Her research interests include African Americans in higher education, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and teacher education. She is the author or editor of five books and currently serves on the German Marshall Fund (GMF) Board of Trustees, among others.
He is a past president of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), a trustee of the Financial Markets Dealers Association, and a Pioneer Board member of FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange. Mr. Jaiyeola has also served in various committees, groups and professional bodies such as the Nigerian Vision 2020 Committee amongst others. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, a Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance, and a Chartered Banker MBA degree from Bangor University, Wales.
Former Minister of Finance (1992-97) and Undersecretary of Public Investment and International Cooperation within the Ministry of Planning (1989-92), he served as Vice President in the government of General Hugo Banzer (1997-2001) and after his death he assumed the Presidency of Bolivia (2001-2002). In 2005 he was a candidate for the presidential election, as well as in 2014, invited by the Christian Democratic Party (PDC).
He is since 1997 a professor of Politics and Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University (NYU) and since 2003 a member of the Board of Human Rights Watch (HRW). He has published more than 20 books and is a regular columnist for the Mexican daily Milenio, TIME Magazine and Spanish daily El País. Castañeda received undergraduate degrees from Princeton University and Université de Paris-I (Pantheon-Sorbonne), a master’s degree from École Pratique de Hautes Études, Paris I, and his Ph.D. in economic history from the University of Paris-I.

The World Desk won numerous awards under his leadership, including two McClatchy Company President's Awards and the Arthur Ross Award for best coverage of Latin America. His coordination of The Herald’s Haiti earthquake coverage contributed to the newspaper being named a finalist for the 2011 Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News.
Earlier in his career, he was posted to Washington, South Africa, Syria and Yemen. Sir John became Chairman and Partner at Macro Advisory Partners after he left public service in 2014, until he set Newbridge Advisory, his own company. He studied at the universities of Nottingham, St Andrews and Harvard. In addition to his corporate work, he has pro bono roles with King’s College London, Chatham House, the Royal United Services Institute, the Bilderberg Association, the Ditchley Foundation and Sevenoaks School.
