Claire Hassoun

She has worked with private companies in their public-private partnerships, with international institutions, and on government projects. Claire has also worked extensively with international donor institutions (EU, World Bank, GIZ) supporting the development strategies of partner countries such as Benin, Ukraine, and Niger. Her strong experience of working in Africa has included project managing the feasibility study of the construction and rehabilitation of a 3,000 km railway loop in West Africa. Since graduating from HKS in May 2015, she has co-founded and managed WAZA, a think tank in Mozambique, focused on public policy research, discussions and project implementation. Claire is currently developing a logistics platform: AppLoad. This solution is a digital service that connects logistics companies with their customers to plan and book cargo shipments in Mozambique and Southern Africa, fostering infra-African trade and supporting more inclusive growth in the region.

Claire Hassoun is an engineer, specialising in transport and logistics. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, as well as a Masters in Civil engineering (Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris, 2008), specialized in the provision of basic services in developing countries. Claire has more than six years’ experience working as a project director and consultant in international development in the infrastructure sector, having led the implementation of projects in the water, energy, transportation sectors, as well as in mining.
