Presentation of the International Jobs Report

OCP Policy Center will host a presentation of the first International Jobs Report, a major result of a joint collaboration of OCP Policy Center with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).
The international Jobs Report offers an analysis of labor market conditions since the end of the 2008-09 global recession. It also provides forecasts of GDP and employment by major international agencies. This report also introduces, on an experimental basis, a new barometer of employment, the Global Jobs Index (GJI), which provides quarterly estimates of global employment. The report shows a global labor market that is improving, but not nearly fast enough to help the tens of millions of workers who are still without jobs.
Following the presentation of the report by Prakash Loungani (IMF and OCP Policy Center), two distinguished experts will offer their perspectives on labor markets, with a focus on Morocco, the MENA region and Africa more broadly. Mr. Ben Tahar will discuss the role of the OMT in improving information on labor markets in Morocco and the challenges associated with the creation of decent employment. Ms. Dewan will provide evidence on how the MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa regions have performed in the provision of employment and in improving the quality of jobs.
