Network Meeting n°1: Jean Monnet Atlantic Network on Atlantic Studies Atlantic approaches to global challenges: sustainability, recovery and new security threats
LiveStream
The Policy Center for the New south has partnered as a core member with Jean Monnet Atlantic Network on Atlantic Studies for the period 2020-2022. In this framework a series of discussions around a number of research papers will tackle the following three themes:
Panel 1: Multilateralism 2.0: How XXI century multilateralism should look like?
Assessing multilateralism on the XX century: what were its major flaws and contributions? What are the changes in the global order that would increase the international system’s resilience? What are the perceptions and perspectives as well as the contributions from the Atlantic Basin regions in shaping a renewed global multilateral system?
Panel 2: Regional visions in the fight against Climate Change: The path to COOP26 -2021
The COOP 26 to be held in Glasgow in November 2021 will be the moment when all the countries committed with the fight against Climate Change will make their proposals for the goals to be achieved to stop climate change. How will the different regions of the Atlantic position themselves? What are the goals they will commit to? With which resources and projects do they plan to achieve the objectives? What alliances can be made in the Atlantic space to generate synergies and forms of solidarity cooperation?
Panel 3: Is the 2021 NATO Summit the turning point for the revitalization of the Transatlantic Security Agenda with a global vision?
During the four years of Trump's presidency, the transatlantic Security agenda fell into its lowest hours. Biden has set out to revitalize relationships, but what are the challenges of that new agenda? How will the new threats that transcend the traditional transatlantic geography be responded to? How does that affect cooperation in the Atlantic area? The results of the NATO Summit in June 2021 help us to analyze some of these issues.
Panel 4: Trans-border Economic Flows from an Atlantic Perspective: Post Covid-19 Economic Recovery: is there a sustainable alternative?
After the economic contraction caused by COVID19, the challenge is economic recovery in terms of sustainability. Does the economic and development crisis, caused by the Pandemic, provides an opportunity for advancing in the ongoing transition for a sustainable future? What are the most feasible opportunities and most complex obstacles? How your region is dealing with the theme? Highlight the support and resistance positions towards a sustainable economic recovery?
