Moubarack Lo, Senior Fellow at Policy Center for the New South, will be speaking at the Plenary session “Effectiveness” during the online TRIGGER Workshop “The EU - an effective actor in global governance?” organized by Freie Universität Berlin (FUB), Environmental Policy Research Centre.

The workshop aims to present the preliminary findings on EU actorness and effectiveness across different policy areas and validate the assessment of actorness across dimensions and specific moments in time. Further, we want to discuss how actorness and effectiveness interrelate, and what policy implications may follow from our findings for the EU’s external action and intra-EU institutions.

The main purposes of the workshop are to validate the findings on assessing actorness in a standardized format and discuss the EU’s role in global governance comparatively across four policy domains (climate policy, data protection and security, EU-Africa cooperation, sustainable development); to explore the relation between EU actorness and effectiveness; to disseminate findings to the scientific community; and to discuss policy implications with EU policy practitioners.
