Castañeda

In 2013, President Peña Nieto appointed him co-president of the Franco-Mexican Strategic Council. Dr. Castañeda is a regular columnist for the Mexican daily Reforma, the Spanish daily El País, and TIME Magazine, and has published more than 15 books. He received a bachelor’s from Princeton University and a bachelor’s from Universite de Paris-I (Pantheon-Sorbonne), a master’s from the École Pratique de Hautes Etudes, and his Ph.D. in economic history from the University of Paris-I.

Dr. Jorge Castañeda was foreign minister of Mexico from 2000-03 and ran for president as an independent candidate in 2006. He taught at Mexico’s National Autonomous University from 1978 through 2004, at Princeton University, and the University of California, Berkeley and (since 1997) at NYU.
