Genaral Diop pursued his trainings in USA, France, Singapore and he is since 2015 a Doctoral student in diplomacy and international relations at CEDS, in Dakar. General Diop has published among others Reinforcing air transport capabilities in Africa: a strategy to improve the military efficiency(2012) ; A review of the peacekeeping operations in Africa, International Journal of Peacekeeping (2009) ; Peacekeeping in Africa: focus on the Artemis mission (DRC), CSIS Newsletter (2009).

Previously Chief of staff of Senegalese Air Forces, General Birame Diop occupies currently the function of Security advisor to the President of the Republic and from January 1st 2020 he will become the Chief of the General staff of the Senegalese Armed Forces. His training courses started with the preparatory classes at the Prytanee military junior school of Saint-Louis in 1974 and Pilot officer training course at the Royal Academy of Morocco in 1985.
