He has written several academic papers and contributed to books, including Afrique 2025 : quels futurs possibles pour l’Afrique au Sud du Sahara ? La compétitivité future des économies africaines, Petit précis de remise à niveau sur l’histoire africaine and Africa Toward 2030 : challenges for development policy. He served the UNDP (1979-2003) as an advisor and human resources developer with the Inter-State Committee for Drought Control in Sahel (CILSS, Ouagadougou), Head of Program at the Bureau for Program and Policy Evauation in New York, head of the UNDP Bureau in South Africa, Chief of Staff in the the UNDP Bureau for Africa in New York, under the leadership of Mrs Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Director of the Regional Program of prospective research based in Abdijan. Former lecturer and researcher at the Institut Africain de Développement Economique et de Planification (IDEP,1976-79), under the leadership of Prof. Samir Amin, Alioune Sall is serving on several boards of non-profit organizations and editorial boards of social sciences journals and is a Visiting Professor in French and African Universities. He holds a Ph. D. in Sociology of Université de Paris VIII (Vincennes) and has received a post-doctoral training in Development Economics at IDEP.
