Advanced Training in Geopolitics & International Relations - Cyber Security & Intellectual Property

OCP Policy Center, Rabat.

The Course will outline what constitutes intellectual property (IP), its value to states, organizations and individuals and how it can be threatened in the digital age. It will examine the nature of the developing threats through cyber space and how these challenge the security of IP as well as other aspects of infrastructure through disruption, destruction and denial. It will then outline the key elements of a coherent approach to a cyber-security strategy recognizing the importance of the human dimension as well as the technical.

Objectives : 

Students will understand what defines intellectual property and why it is significant in the digital economy.

• Students will understand the threat to intellectual property in the digital space and also how broader threats through cyber space can challenge security;
• Students will understand the key elements of a coherent approach to a cyber-security strategy.

About the Speaker :
  • Robert John Pritchard

    Robert John Pritchard is a cyber security specialist with over fourteen years of experience working in the field of cyber security in a number of different arenas.

    After spending five years doing security risk assessment at a major investment bank, he worked in a variety of security roles in the UK Government, before becoming deputy head of the Cyber Security Operations Centre.  He is founder of The Cyber Security Expert, offering managed security monitoring, incident response and specialist consultancy services.

    Robert specialises in security operations and incident response. While in Government, Robert was heavily involved in the National Cyber Security Programme, and in preparations for the London Olympics, where he led on development of incident response measures and the cyber aspects of the exercise programme.
