Advanced Training in Agricultural Economics & Environment - Water-Energy-Food Nexus

The course will cover state, national and international water, energy and food securities and the interlinkages that exist between these resources. It will explore a quantitative framework to develop and assess sustainable tradeoffs of these resources. It will include lectures and hands on laboratory. The course is designed to be intellectually stimulating by learners from various disciplines within the natural resources areas.
Objectives :
• Describe the global risks and the how the nexus can drive sustainability of the resources management and allocation;
• Quantify the inter-linkages of the Water, Energy, Food systems;
• Identify a nexus hot spot for a specific condition;
• Apply the Nexus Tool to simulate and conduct tradeoff analysis for a scenario of interest.

Rabi Mohtar
Dr. Rabi Mohtar is a TEES Endowed Professor at Texas AM University, College Station, Texas. His primary research priority is the development of a framework to quantify the interlinkages of the Water-Energy-Food Nexus that is constrained by climate change and social, political, and technological pressures. He received
numerous international research awards and honors including the Kishida International award for contributions to agricultural research.
