Online Presentation: Beyond Aid - Making the EU Policy with Africa Work for Africa

A partnership for sustainable growth and jobs: How can the EU support Africa's economic transformation?

Dr. Len Ishmael, Senior Fellow at Policy Center for the New South, will be presenting her latest report titled “Beyond Aid - Making the EU Policy with Africa Work for Africa” during the “Partnership for sustainable growth and jobs: How can the EU support Africa's economic transformation” conference which will be organized by The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) and the Hanns Seidel Stiftung (HSS).

Africa is a vital partner for the EU, and vice versa. Future developments on the two continents, including in the economic sphere, will be closely intertwined. “Sustainability” remains a keyword, but what are African priorities and how do they match with the EU’s proposed strategies? Working together within a partnership of equals is in the interest of both sides, entailing valuable opportunities, but of course also challenges.

In this context, Dr. Ishmael’s report sheds light on how to make the EU's strategy with Africa mutually beneficial. Her research examines major issues and makes policy recommendations for the EU's role in promoting prosperity and job creation in Africa.

This event is taking place virtually on Thursday, 10 February, at 10:00 (GMT +1)
