Growth Strategies and Industrial Policies: Towards Structural Transformation in Africa

Addis Ababa, Ethiopie

The Ethiopian Development Research Institute (EDRI) and OCP Policy Center, are co-organizing the first edition of their Strategic Dialogues, a Platform for Economic Policy Dialogue under the theme of “Growth Strategies and Industrial Policies: Towards Structural Transformation in Africa” on Wednesday 8 and Thursday 9 February 2017 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The aim of this ambitious initiative is to set a timely and truly engaging bridge to enable an economic policy dialogue between Ethiopia and Morocco on the one hand and emerging economies on the other.

Prominent experts from think tanks, research institutes and academia, as well as selected policy makers and professionals will meet in an intellectual, interactive setting to share their perspectives on economic subjects of common interest and, most importantly, generate valuable outcomes and ideas, summarized in publications that will benefit both participants as well as interested external stakeholders. The event will also see the participation of high level private sector participants with in-depth experience in specific sector.

The collaboration between the Ethiopian Development Research Institute and OCP Policy Center will constitute the main pillar of this platform as well as the driving force for content-based dialogue that can serve as a catalyst for analytical output.

The conference will start with a high-level policy panel. The seminar will then be composed of four panels, each will span for an hour and 15 minutes and two in-focus sessions of 45 minutes each. The panels will have speakers from both Ethiopia and Morocco to debate on the subject matter while the author(s) of the paper will give input on their initial research to ensure analytically sound discussions and gather further materials for the final publication.
