Advanced Training in Commodity Economics and Finance : Module 5 - Pricing commodity derivatives

 

Objective of the training

At the very heart of the international trade and financial system, the complex but fascinating world of commodities has emerged over the last decade as an inescapable field of study for those who want to comprehend the economic and geopolitical stakes of the early 21st century. Recognizing the importance of the issue and keen to pursue its actions, based on a long-term vision and initiated with the “advanced training program for Economic Analysis and Management”, the OCP Policy Center will launch, from January 2016, a second training program for commodity economics and finance. In line with our “think, stimulate, bridge” motto, it is designed to train executives and senior civil servants in all the economic and financial issues related to commodity markets, and to give them the appropriate tools to handle them. This very unique 180-hour training program will be divided into six 30-hour modules.

Emerging Countries and the "Return of Geopolitics": Economic and Geopolitical Cross-Sectional Perspectives

In 2014, the deceleration of global growth trends revealed wide disparities between emerging countries. While the big emerging countries face a decline in their growth potential, smaller ones continue to show resilience and drive in what seems to be a difficult international grid.

The year 2014 also brought along some international tensions, leading to a discursive shift entailing a "return of geopolitics" perspective, which in other words explains a return to classical power politics. This consequently questions, both directly and indirectly, the established order, and explains the scope and context of the respective crises, though these vary by region.

Atlantic Strategy Group Conference “Towards more Prosperity and Security in the Southern Atlantic”

Dakar, Senegal

OCP Policy Center and the German Marshall Fund of the United States, in partnership with the Institut Panafricain de Stratégies and the Institute Fernando Henrique Cardo, are organizing an Atlantic Strategy Group conference on April 25-27th, 2016 in Dakar, Senegal with a focus on economy, trade, security, governance and human development in the Southern Atlantic. The event will be preceded by an informal dinner for conference participants on April 25, 2016.

The convening will see the participation of roughly 40 experts, leading policy makers, academics, businesspeople, and other specialists from Africa, Morocco, Brazil, the United States, and Europe.

Advanced Training in Economic Analysis and Management: Module 7 - Growth Economics

Objectif de la formation

Après une première expérience réussie du programme de formation « Advanced Training in Economic Analysis and Management », OCP Policy Center a le plaisir d’annoncer le lancement cette année de la deuxième édition de ce cours. A travers ce programme, OCP Policy Center vise à apporter une contribution au développement des capacités d’analyse et de gestion économique des participants. Cette formation sera également une occasion de tisser un réseau d’échange et de partage entre les économistes qui en auront bénéficié. Le programme de formation est composé de huit modules d’une semaine chacun, répartis sur huit mois (d’octobre 2015 à mai 2016) et couvrant un volume horaire total de 240 heures de cours.
