Latin America is immersed in a new world reality: the daily coexistence with the COVID-19 pandemic, the latter inflicting on this region some of the highest death rates in the world. It is facing a humanitarian crisis borne out of several factors, mainly: political instability, social unrest, fragile health systems and perhaps most importantly, longstanding and pervasive inequality — in income, health care, and education—which has been woven into the social and economic fabric of the region.

لا يزال موضوع التلقيح ضد فيروس كورونا يستحوذ على حديث الساعة، خاصة حول طرق الاستفادة منه، إجباريته وحتى جنسيته. كما تستعد المملكة لإطلاق حملة تلقيح وطنية، وتدعو مواطنيها إلى الانخراط الواسع فيها، إلا أن هناك مجموعة من الرهانات التي يجب تجاوزها. فكيف ستتم عملية استيراد وتوزيع اللقاح؟ هل تم تحديد المستفيدين الأوائل؟ على أي أساس يتم اختيار الفئات المستهدفة أولاً باللقاح؟ ما هي نسبة عدد السكان التي ستتلقى التلقيح في المراحل الأولى؟ ثم كيف يمكن للبحوث الجينية، الموضوعة في خدمة الممارسة الطبية، أن تساهم في مكافحة فيروس كورونا؟ نتحدث كذلك عن دخول المغرب لأسواق بلدان أخرى في إفريقيا، هل هذا العامل سيؤثر في اختيار المغرب للقاح؟ هل تتوفر مثلا كل هاته الشركات على شهادات الجودة للتسويق على المستوى القاري؟

Besides its economic consequences, the fear from contamination, the psychological effects of lockdown and confinement have had and will continue to have significant impacts on the mental health of populations during this ongoing epidemic crisis of Covid-19.

The COVID-19 pandemic has evolved into an unprecedented international crisis with serious consequences for human health and economic activity. It has also disrupted energy markets. The rapid decline in crude oil prices since January 2020 has raised concerns on both the demand and supply sides, making the outlook for oil and gas markets highly uncertain.

Karim El Aynaoui, President of the Policy Center for the New South, will speak in a panel at the Post Tana Virtual Multi-Stakeholders Forum, taking place on December 17th under the theme of “National Sovereignty, Peace and Security: Challenging Demands for the AfCFTA”. Organized by Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS), the general objective of the Post-Tana Forum is to provide a platform for candid deliberations about the AfCFTA and its implications on state sovereignty and continental security. In this context, the president will speak on the session on the implementation of the AfCFTA and its impact on security and specifically on potential illicit financial flaws, human and drug trafficking and the need for a more integrated approach.

In modern societies, technology plays an important role and thus creates new challenges. Information, of which ICT is the vector, has become a strategic resource. Today, ICTs are already playing a central role in the fight against global inequalities. They are now asserting themselves, in both developed and emerging countries, as tools to help formalize development and crisis management strategies. The changes brought about by the use of ICTs are visible everywhere. Indeed, crisis management cannot function effectively without the support of advanced ICTs.
