Improving Girls Education in Rural Areas in Morocco
33rd International congress for school effectiveness and improvement
The Policy Center for the New South will be represented by Aomar Ibourk (Senior Fellow) and Tayeb Ghazi (Economist) at the 33rd International Congress for School Effectiveness and Improvement (ICSEI) which will focus on “Education, Youth Empowerment, and Sustainable Development: Collaboration between the Global North and South to Improve Education Quality”. The conference is scheduled to take place on 6-10 January, 2020 in Marrakesh.
This will be the first time the conference is being held in Africa, bringing participants from about 80 countries to share experience and exchange knowledge and best practices on quality education and school improvement.
The conference will be hosted by the Moroccan Center for Civic Education in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Training, and Scientific Research, and the Regional Council of Marrakech-Safi Region.

Aomar Ibourk
He is a professor of quantitative methods and social economics at the Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, an economist, as well as Senior Fellow at the Policy Center for the New South, previously known as OCP Policy Center, who focuses on Applied econometrics, labor market, economics of education and development economics. He is also the director of GRES (Economic and Social Research Group) at the same university. His research focuses on econometric methodologies applied to social sciences (labor economics, economics of education and Development). Mr. Ibourk's doctoral thesis looks into the "Contribution to Econometrics through the Labor Market Matching Process: Macro and Microeconometric Approaches to the Moroccan Labor Market."

Tayeb Ghazi
He is an Economist at the OCP Policy Center. He is also a Ph.D. student in applied economics at Cadi Ayyad University of Marrakech where he obtained a master’s degree in Econometrics and Applied Finance. His researches focus, currently, on labor market, education, trade, and development.
