Rim Berahab is speaking on a panel under the theme "How can Africa meet the challenge of renewable energy?" of the plenary session on "The challenges of developing renewable energy projects in Africa".
Despite facing many energy challenges, Africa has abundant renewable resources, which could play a key role in meeting its energy needs and acting as a lever for development. In order to make the most of its potential, the continent must be able to estimate its resources, put in place the required infrastructures and acquire local know-how based on the reinforcement of technical skills and industrial integration. Rim Berahab
Rim Berahab is an economist at the Policy Center for the New South. She is currently working on issues related to energy economics, energy markets and climate change. Her areas of research focus also on international trade and regional integration in Africa. Rim was a visitor at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) within the Commodity Unit of the Research Department for three months. She holds an engineering degree from the National Institute for Statistics and Applied Economics (INSEA).
